At Neways, supporting the next generation within the building industry isn’t just a tick-box exercise; it’s something we genuinely care and are passionate about. We’re proud to train, mentor, and invest in apprentices and young tradespeople, passing on not just practical skills, but the standards, work ethic, and integrity that is foundational for a sustainable building industry. It’s far from “cheap” taking on an apprentice; and there’s not nearly enough support out there, yet, by extending the right leadership, guidance, and real world experience, we’re helping to secure a stronger, more sustainable future for the building industry.
2023, Federation of Master Builders, Apprentice of the Year
After winning the Federation of Master Builder’s 2023, National Apprentice of the Year Award, our Carpentry Apprentice, Seth Barton was a 2024 FINALIST in the UK Youth Builder of the Year Awards. Celebrated at the House of Commons, Seth received a Commendation Award in recognition for overcoming insubordinate challenges in his life, recognised for going from strength to strength, and achieving both personal and professional goals working within the Building industry.
A representative from the Federation of Master Builder’s wrote, via email: “It was a wonderful nomination, and Seth sounds like such a credit to the industry and your business. It was a highly contested category with some other really strong nominations, but Seth stood out to the judges, they gave us comments such as:
‘Seth is clearly an outstanding candidate for Apprentice of the Year’
‘An inspiring young man who has clearly overcome many challenges in his life and sets an example both at work and in the outside world. I want to know more about his journey!’
‘Seth has shown real dedication to this apprenticeship and has overcome many hurdles to do so. He demonstrates resourcefulness and a real eagerness to improve himself against odds.’
